Places to Visit

This page is intended as a collection of interesting and hopefully useful items about Nonconformist places of interest.  We will add to this resource regularly and welcome contributions from members and others.

  • The South Gloucestershire Chapels leaflet that Chapels Society member David Dawson wrote for South Gloucestershire Council is a comprehensive guide to the area’s Nonconformist heritage. It includes details of 68 sites to visit along with a useful map and some general background information on the Nonconformist history of the area.
  • Methodist Heritage is the new name for the work of the Methodist Church in Britain aimed at preserving its heritage and using it as a tool for contemporary mission. The Methodist Heritage Committee publishes a full-colour visitors’ guide to Methodist heritage sites of historic importance – the Methodist Heritage Handbook – and a twice yearly newsletter: Heritage News.
