The Society usually arranges three visits for its members each year. The visits take us to various parts of the UK to explore present and former places of worship, of a wide range of denominations. Each visit is organised by someone who knows the locality well, and coach transport is provided when appropriate. The visits provide an ideal opportunity to meet other members and each ends with a chapel tea.
The programme of visits is arranged by our Hon Visits Secretary, Dr Tim Grass. He can be contacted at 1 Thornhill Close, Ramsey, Isle of Man, IM8 3LA or alternatively you can use our contact form.
The Society is currently preparing a day conference on seating in Nonconformist places of worship. This will take place on Friday 2nd March 2012 in Carrs Lane Church Centre in Birmingham.
On Saturday 14 April 2012 we shall be exploring the area around Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourbridge, where the ministry of Richard Baxter, one of the most celebrated clergy to lose their livings in the Great Ejectment, made such an impact.
The Society’s AGM visit will take place on Saturday 7 July 2012, when we plan to visit the part of North-West London between the Westway and the A5. This area is rich in nonconformist buildings but is also noted for its multi-faith character, and the buildings visited will reflect this.
The Society’s autumn visit will take place on Saturday 22 September 2012, when we shall be looking at the mainly nineteenth-century nonconformist heritage of Harrogate and Nidderdale.
Further details will be posted soon.
